As some of you may well know, one of our talented members, Cian Curley, has recently moved into the paid ranks and turned professional.
Cian has come up through the junior system from a young age at Newlands and has represented the club in wonderful fashion throughout the years. He competed for the club well on numerous occasions and since 2007 he has obtained over 20 caps for the Irish Mens Team including a Home International winners medal in 2008.
Cian's biggest accolade came in June of this year when the captured the East of Ireland Amateur Championship at Co. Louth G.C. Some of you might also have seen Cian play in his first European Tour event at this years 3 Irish Open in Killarney.
In the new year the club will be hosting a fundraiser day for Cian turning pro on Saturday March 26th and will consist of 2 shotgun starts open to both members and visitors. More details on the day and timesheet will follow early in the new year. We hope this day will be well supported by all.
"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead and I'm very excited about taking the next step in my career. I had a great time in my years playing and representing Newlands. The members and the club have always been fantastic to me and supported me really well. I cant thank them enough. I'm really appreciative to the club for hosting this fundraiser. I'm looking forward to the day already. We have some great ideas for the day to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible. That's what the day is going to be all about...."
