Irish Deaf Golf Union (IDGU) was founded in 1995 by some golfing enthusiasts with about eight members at that time and has grown in strength over the years and now averages 35 members a year.
The Union organises and runs the following tournaments for Men's and Ladies at various golf courses :
Captain's Day
Irish National Deaf Golf Championship
Connacht Deaf Golf Championship
Leinster Deaf Golf Championship
Munster Deaf Golf Championship
Ulster Deaf Golf Championship
The aim of IDGU is to encourage the maximum number of deaf golfer to participate in a friendly sporting spirit and allow members an opportunity to qualify in top ten order of merit to participate World Deaf Golf Championship every two years.
