Canadian PGA Celebrates Centenary

The Canadian PGA, the second oldest PGA in the world, announced details of its Centennial Celebration with festivities that will feature a two-day event consisting of golf on July 10 and 11 at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and Rivermead Golf Club followed by a gala dinner on Monday, July 11 at the beautiful Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel in Gatineau, Quebec. 

The Centennial event will celebrate the growth and development of the Canadian PGA over the last 100 years. From the early beginnings, in 1911 when a group of thirty-five professionals met at Royal Ottawa Golf Club, during the Canadian Open, to organize the first Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association to a diverse non-profit Association comprised of over 3,700 golf professionals across the country, who’s mandate is to develop, promote and support Members as experts in the game and business of golf . 

“We are thrilled to be going back to our roots and celebrating at Royal Ottawa ~ where it all began 100 years ago”, said Canadian PGA President, Glenn Cundari. “The celebration will be a wonderful opportunity for us to share our associations’ past, present and future. It promises to be a great event”. 

The event expects several hundred members to take part in the celebration joined with industry leaders and partners, media, sponsors, PGA World Alliance members, the National Board of Directors, special guests and government dignitaries. The celebration will also feature a detailed historical display depicting original members, past champions and antique equipment organised in conjunction with the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Zone offices.
